Everstream’s fiber internet network has expanded to yet another Midwest city: Columbus.
The Cleveland-based company, which offers high-speed internet access to businesses, has finished an 80 mile fiber ring that circles the city along Interstate 270 and passes through downtown on North High Street.
The fiber is designed to give Columbus-area businesses fast connections to 36 data centers across the Midwest, including three in the Columbus area. Everstream also recently opened a downtown Columbus office with 21 employees, including a sales team and field engineers, according to a news release. The company has said it will create a total of 40 full-time-equivalent positions in Columbus as well as 50 in Cleveland as part of its commitment to the state, which awarded Ohio Job Creation Tax Credits to Everstream in December 2018.
Everstream’s goal is to add another 500 miles in the Columbus area. The company has more than 10,000 miles of fiber across six Midwest states. In the release, the company says it “is on track to grow to more than 15,000 miles of fiber with more than 3,000 on-net locations in 12 markets throughout the Midwest by the end of 2020.”
