Everstream’s ambitions are ever-growing.

The Cleveland-based provider of fiber-based internet service throughout much of the Midwest announced in a news release on Wednesday, Jan. 29, that it will “invest more than $250 million in the buildout of its dense fiber network” in 2020. The strategy “also includes entry into five new Midwest markets, helping Everstream reach its goal of more than 15,000 route miles of fiber deployed by year’s end,” the company said in the release.

The five news markets are Chicago; Dayton; Fort Wayne, Ind.; Louisville; and St. Louis. Everstream said in the release that it will establish offices in those cities and “hire more than 100 total new employees.” An Everstream spokesperson said in an email that the company at present has 223 employees and has “54 open positions that we are actively filling.”

Everstream president and CEO Brett Lindsey in the release characterized the 2020 goals as “aggressive” and noted, “We actively continue our network build to provide high-capacity, low-latency connectivity to businesses throughout the Midwest. At the same time, we are also strategically pursuing acquisition and partnership opportunities that will help us reach our goals more quickly while densifying the network already in place.”

The 2020 plan ramps up the efforts of 2019, when Everstream said it “invested more than $70 million in new network construction” and grew total route miles across its markets by 30%, to a total of more than 13,000.

The company last year brought its services to Columbus, Indianapolis and Milwaukee. Everstream also said it “added fiber to densify its network” in Cleveland.
