The Cleveland-based internet provider said it has kicked off development of an 800-route-mile network extension in Missouri that marks its first presence there and, according to the company, the first new “business connectivity provider” in that area in 10 years.
About 150 of those route miles should be lit come October with as many more miles turning on in the first quarter of 2021. That will serve the St. Louis region and a portion of southern Illinois.
“The greater St. Louis metropolitan region is home to world-class businesses that need world-class, high-capacity fiber connectivity,” said Everstream president and CEO Brett Lindsey in a statement. “Everstream‘s network was built from the ground up for businesses requiring reliability, speed and scale. Businesses in the greater St. Louis area want to have access to another option for connectivity, and we continue to work with the city of St. Louis on our expansion efforts.”
The expansion represents an investment of at least $25 million and the launching of a sales office with about 20 employees.
Everstream continues to expand and will likely announce development in additional new markets going forward. Most recently, the company expanded into Milwaukee via an Indefeasible Right of Use (IRU) agreement with Uniti Fiber.
Everstream hired an executive vice president of corporate development in July to help oversee its growth strategies and closed a fundraise of $342.5 million in April to finance those plans.
